Role of Parents and Guardians

Ireland’s Constitution states that parents are the child’s primary educators. Support from home is vital for your child’s success in school. To support your child, you can:

  • Show interest in what your child is doing in school by chatting about their day, helping with homework, admiring class posts on the website, attending school events where possible
  • Consult with the school on your child’s progress by attending parent / teacher meetings
  • Contact the class teacher about any concerns you may have via email info@tullyallenns.ie as a first port of call
  • Praise your child’s efforts at every opportunity - your encouragement means a lot and will motivate your child to continue trying

It is important that the school is informed if a child’s parents do not reside together. If there is a custody arrangement regarding your child the school needs to be informed. The school cannot be asked to withhold a child from either parent in the absence of a custody arrangement. In all matters pertaining to the wellbeing and education of pupils, only the parents/legal guardians named on the enrolment form will be consulted by the teachers.
