A Snapshot of Ms Mc Keowns 3rd and 4th Class

29th Apr 2025

The children in Ms Mc Keowns 3rd and 4th Class had a busy time in the run up to the Easter break.

Some of the highlights over the last number of weeks included creating Newgrange monuments, performing for Seachtain na Gaeilge and learning some lovely Irish dances (despite the initial hesitation from some of the children, the children thoroughly enjoyed the dancing).

They participated in several lovely activities and competitions to celebrate World Book Week including a Design a Door competition where some of our wonderful artists were given their chance to shine. It’s incredible the ideas they came up with and the creativity they displayed.
We had great rivalry within the class splitting into teams and decorating two doors. The jury is still out as to which door won our in class competition.

The children have also being actively engaging with the new maths curriculum.

They bid a very sad farewell to a wonderful classmate who has moved to the West of Ireland. There was undoubtedly some fantastic friendships formed before his departure and I’m sure they will keep in touch in the future!

They had talks from Robotics, Trocaire, Drogheda Fire Station and also welcomed their grandparents and special visitors in to school to celebrate Grandparents Day.
They had an in class chess tournament and we certainly have some fantastic chess players in our midst. Less than half the class could play initially and it was wonderful to see the children teaching each other chess and learning from the more experienced players.

The children also commenced their training on l our new school Chromebooks which they are thoroughly enjoying and learning some fantastic tips and tricks.

The children participated in our Mini Olympic challenges and started a tournament against Mr Callaghans 5th class. Watch this space as it’s set to be a very competitive term three between the two classes.

Looking forward to another busy term with the children.
